Black Lives Matter

We have all been shocked, saddened, and angered by the killing of George Floyd and by the many many other cases of police brutality, racism and injustice both in the UK and around the world and ongoing violence towards protesters. Active Inquiry stands in love, respect and solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

As a mostly white company and board we understand that we have a responsibility to become aware of and unlearn the racism in our society and in our own thoughts and actions. We must listen more. We must take responsibility for our actions and continue to educate ourselves on Black history, racism, white privilege and colonialism. We believe it is our responsibility in our lives and our work as theatre artists to build a world where everyone is truly free.

We don’t want to drown out or distract from Black voices who now more than ever need to be heard loud and clear so we won’t be saying any more at this time but we will share links and posts from the Black community including activists and artists.

We must do better. We will do better.
