Well we have now started our next Forum Theatre project in Leith with a working title of Taking ACTion. We have formed a small company of people who have worked with Active Inquiry before – a mixture of community and professional actors – and are going to be meeting once a week to research and devise a piece of Forum Theatre for performances throughout Leith in late November/early December 2012

First Company Meeting

This week was spent getting to know each other and interrogating what we mean by the terms “research” and “community”

What is Research?

The first stage of the project involves listening to the community of Leith to find a theme we want to work on that is relevant to the community. We therefore discussed three types of research that will underpin our project: Action Research, Community-based Participatory Research and Practice-as-Research.

Types of Research

We all went away with the task of finding out issues and talking points in Leith and we will bring all of this together next week to select the theme that we will be working on until May next year when we hope to have a whole weekend event which will include many Forum Theatre performances, including some companies working across Europe! More on that later.
