Flashback Drama Group starts back!

Our weekly devising company for adults, Flashback, started back last night on Monday 3rd October at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall on Dalmeny Street from 6-8pm.

A good-sized group consisting of a mix of old and new members came together to begin the process of devising, writing and performing a brand new show for the Leith Festival in June 2012. The theme for this year’s piece will be the current budget cuts.

After introductions and questions at the start it was time to get into doing some practical work! A few of the group were a bit nervous to start off with because they had not done any drama for years but that was soon forgotten about as we played some games and got moving around the space. One particular highlight was the whole group swearing at each other as part of one game!

After a short break we started to explore improvising with each other because this will form the basis of future workshops. Pairs were asked to focus on how they reacted physically to their partner with each pair only being allowed to use 3 words in their entire improvisation. We ended the evening with 15 second performances of these improvisations. One highlight was Gareth and Karen’s piece which was set in a nightclub and told the story of a couple whose dancing was finally brought to an end because of the presence of a cat!

New members are still welcome to join the group. Check out our Flashback page for more information or contact us.
